Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect information on this site.

What we collect
When you visit PicksByTown, we collect standard web server and analytics data: your IP address, browser type, referring site, pages viewed, and time spent. You are not required to provide any personal information to read this site.
What business owners give us
When you claim a listing or add a business, we collect what you type into the form: your name, your email address, the business name, its phone number and website, and the town and trade. We use it to publish and maintain the listing, to send you your confirmation and renewal notices, and to answer you. The business phone number and website you enter are shown publicly on the listing. Your own name and email address are not published.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe on our checkout page. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers; we do not see or store card numbers. We keep a record of what was bought, when, and the email address used. Stripe's handling of payment data is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
Business information from public sources
Listings are built from public data about businesses: names, phone numbers, addresses and websites that the business itself publishes. If you own a listed business and want a detail corrected or the listing removed, email [email protected].
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies for two things:
- Analytics. We use privacy-respecting web analytics to understand which pages are popular and how visitors arrive. This data is aggregated and not tied to your identity.
- Advertising. We do not run display advertising or ad networks. Paid placements from business owners are labeled Sponsored on the page and never affect rankings. Some outbound links are affiliate links.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may collect data about your visit:
- Cloudflare (CDN, security, performance)
- Stripe (card payments, on the checkout page only)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their use of the data they receive.
Your rights
Under GDPR (if you are in the European Union) and CCPA (if you are a California resident), you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
